2024/09/05 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2024: Reha start after successful surgerey

Dominique Aegerter to start rehab after successful operation

GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team rider from the canton of Bern has already been discharged from hospital and immediately began therapy programs to aid his speedy recovery.

Dominique Aegerter suffered several broken ribs and an injury to his right shoulder in a training accident last week. He underwent successful surgery at Hirslanden Beau-Site clinic in Bern on Friday to stabilize the injuries.

Aegerter is now back at home. His injuries and recovery will be assessed ahead of the World Championship round in Cremona, which takes place from September 20-22, as the 33-year-old is already working on his comeback, which he is aiming for there. Aegerter will have to miss his actual home race this weekend in Magny-Cours, France.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team, Yamaha YZF R1)

«First of all, I would like to say that I am very sorry not to be able to be at Magny-Cours. I always look forward to this race weekend, because many, many of my fans come there every year to support me. Unfortunately, the current situation doesn't allow it. However, I will do everything I can to get healthy and fit again as quickly as possible so that I can get back on my Yamaha Superbike in Cremona.»

«I was in Carinthia in Austria when the accident happened. My sponsor “Grapos” had organized a training camp with best facilities. Immediately after the accident, they made all the arrangements and contacted Rega straight away so that I could be brought back to Switzerland as quickly as possible. My first thanks go to the Grapos team and also to the medical team at the Hirslanden Clinic under Dr. Joss, Dr. Hoksch, Prof. Kocher and Dr. Beyeler, as well as the hospital staff for their first-class treatment. I would also like to thank Rega, who were responsible for the air transport to Berne. A big thank you to everyone who helped and supported me. This also includes my team for their support.»
