2024/07/21 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2024: Czech Round / Sunday - Superpole Race & Race 2

Dominique Aegerter: «Leaving Most behind us»

Things didn’t turnaround for the ambitious Swiss racer on Sunday in the Czech Republic either. Despite put in all his best efforts, he remained without points in both races.

Round six of this year’s World Championship at the Autodrom Most didn’t bring Dominique Aegerter the success he had hoped for. Three points from the first race on Saturday afternoon were a modest haul. On Sunday morning in Superpole Race, the 33-year-old Yamaha rider failed due to his aggressive riding style. As a result, he only had to start the second long race in the afternoon from the sixth row of the grid. With a good start, Aegerter quickly worked his way into the top ten. However, a front wheel slide put an end to his strong push for a conciliatory end to the weekend.

«The disappointment is huge. In Superpole Race, I did my best to move forward. I also took a lot of risks, which I had to pay for with a crash on the first lap. I am sorry for my team, all the sponsors and fans. In the second race, we pushed very hard for a result in the top ten. I was very often over the limit, and at one time I had a nasty slide on the front, which I managed to safe but had to go straight into the gravel. After that, it was all about finishing in the points. But the gap was too big. Most was a weekend that we have to put behind us and do everything we can to get back to where we should be. We will continue with this task in Portimao in just under three weeks' time.»
