2024/06/16 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2024: Emilia-Romagna Round / Sunday - «Tissot Superpole Race» & Race 2

Misano, a weekend to forget, focus on Donington

Dominique Aegerter had to swallow a bitter pill on Sunday, as he had to go back home from Italy without any points at one of his «so-called» home races due to its proximity to Switzerland.

For 33-year-old Dominique Aegerter, the World Championship’s visit to the Misano World Circuit near the vacation region around Rimini was not worth to trip there this time. After a technical issue forced the ambitious athlete from the canton of Bern to retire in the first race on Saturday, Aegerter suffered the same fate again on Sunday afternoon. In the ten-lap «Tissot Superpole Race», the Yamaha rider squandered a better result on the very first lap when he was pushed off the track by another rider.

The championship continues in three weeks' time with the meeting at the traditional Donington Park circuit in central England.

"I ran out of time this morning in Superpole Race. One or two more laps would have been good to maybe finish eighth or ninth. But crossing the line in tenth place, I dropped back to 13th on the grid for the second race over the long distance. I didn't get the best start again in the afternoon, but I was able to fight hard for positions and overtake other riders on the first few laps. In addition, the feeling was much better than yesterday. I think we could have delivered a good race."

"But we had another technical problem today. I am sorry for my fans, all the sponsors and my team and I also want to apologize for my reaction, which was not so nice in the first moment. But because of all the adrenaline I was very mad. It is a real shame that we could not finish the second main race either. We now have to be patient for three weeks until we have the chance to make amends at Donington Park. During this time, I will train hard, reset my mind and hopefully we can show our true potential soon."
