2024/06/15 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2024: Emilia-Romagna Round / Saturday - Superpole & Race 1

Unable to maintain rising trend in the race

After strong performances on Saturday morning, Dominique Aegerter had to bury his hopes of a good result in the first main race of the World Championship round in Italy due to technical problems.

Early summer weather on Saturday ensured perfect conditions and first-class motorcycle racing at the 4.2 kilometres long track of the Misano World Circuit. Unfortunately, the sun did not shine all day for Dominique Aegerter. After a good Superpole, which decides the starting grid and which the 33-year-old Swiss rider finished in ninth place, a technical issue forced him to retire from the first race of the weekend in the early afternoon today.

Aegerter has the opportunity to make amends on Sunday in Superpole Race and the second main race. Austrian channel «ServusTV» will be broadcasting live from 13:10 with an extensive preliminary coverage and a recording of «Tissot Superpole Race». «Eurosport 1» has a recording in its schedule at 18:00 CEST. All of Sunday's sessions can also be followed via live stream on «ServusTV Online» or on the official «WorldSBK» website.

Startplatz 9 / Superpole-Race: P14 / Startplatz 19 / Rennen 1: NC

"It started quite well today with ninth place on the grid after Superpole. My lap time was even faster than last year. I was happy with that, even though the guys at the front pushed very hard and lapped under the lap record. Apart from that, it was also important for us improving the bike. Unfortunately, the start of the race was not so good, and I found myself in the middle of the pack. I tried everything to make up ground, but we lacked a bit of performance in terms of race pace that we had yesterday with the same tyres and in the same conditions."

"In the end, there was a technical problem with the bike. It's annoying that we couldn't finish the race. We are still looking for the cause and are also trying to further improve the bike so that we can deliver a good performance in tomorrow’s Superpole Race and also to tackle the second race from a starting position in the top 9. I'm sorry for the team, all the sponsors and fans that the race ended prematurely for me today."
