2024/06/14 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2024: Emilia-Romagna Round / Friday's Free Practice Sessions

A solid return to racing after the long break

In fine weather on Friday in Misano, Dominique Aegerter started round four of the season solidly performing.

Italy’s Misano World Circuit, not far from the Adriatic coastline, is hosting FIM Superbike World Championship this weekend after a break of almost two months since the series’ visit to Assen. In much friendlier conditions than in the Netherlands in April, day one of practice was already a hot affair, as the fast lap times of the highly competitive entry list showed.

Dominique Aegerter also started the weekend on a high level. The hard work put in during a two-day test at the end of May at the same venue paid off. The 33-year-old Swiss rider finished the first free practice session in 13th place before improving his lap time from this morning by four tenths of a second in the second session of the day in much warmer conditions. This put the Yamaha rider in 10th place on the combined timesheet.

After the Superpole on Saturday morning, the first main race of the weekend will start as usual at 14:00. ServusTV and Eurosport 1 will be live on air. Alternatives are the «ServusTV on» app and the live stream on ServusTV Online and on the official WorldSBK website.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team, Yamaha YZF R1)
FP1: P13 - 1´34.751 / FP2: P9 - 1´34.384

"The test here two weeks ago helped us to start with a good base set-up. However, the conditions were completely different with lots of sunshine and very warm temperatures in the afternoon. The asphalt temperatures in particular had risen sharply. Pirelli brought two new tyres, one for the front and one for the rear. Of course, we tried both and got a good feeling with each. The lap times are very fast with strong riders in the top 10."

"It will therefore be important to work well in tomorrow morning’s FP3 so that we can find a few tenths. After that, we need a strong qualifying session to be in a good position for the race in the afternoon. We are getting great support here from the many Italian fans, the team's sponsors and not forgetting my fans from Switzerland, many of whom already have come to the track today. I would like to thank them all already. Hopefully we can give them a great weekend."
