2023/09/24 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2023: Aragon Round / Sunday - Superpole Race & Race 2

Five points are poor consolation

After a difficult Aragón weekend with yesterday's 15th place Dominique Aegerter had to settle with four points in the second race.

Dominique Aegerter was not able to check-off easily Saturday morning's crash, as he struggled to get a feeling on Sunday either, even with his race bike, which was completely rebuilt by his crew. After finishing 14th in Superpole Race, the 32-year-old Swiss was unable to go beyond twelfth place in the second main race of the weekend.

The championship continues next weekend with a visit to the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve not far from the southern Portuguese port city of Portimao.

Grid position 16 / Superpole Race: P14 / Grid position 16 / Race 2: P12

"During warm-up we tried to do something for the feeling and the lap times. Unfortunately, that did not quite work out. For the sprint race we chose the softer tyre option. But from 16th on the grid, I was involved in fierce battles with other manufacturers, and it was not easy to get through the pack. For the second race we made some changes to the bike compared to yesterday. I felt a bit more comfortable with that, but the gap to the winning time was a bit bigger even though, I’ve to admit that Bautista was very fast today. In general, it was a difficult race because overtaking in the middle of field is never easy."

"In the end we could not play out our strengths as I got stuck behind others in various corners. The weekend was a bit disappointing, and I would also like to apologize again for the crash. It happened at a very inopportune time and was obviously no help for the rest of the weekend. I will now use the next few days to recover and healing my injuries. Finally, I would like to thank the team for the night shift in which they rebuilt my bike."
