2023/09/13 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2023: «Speedy Gonzales Fanclub»

The «Speedy’s» can be relied on

The «Speedy Gonzales Fanclub» from Malters is one of the first active supporters of Dominique Aegerter's career.

The «Speedy's» originated from a group of motorcycle enthusiasts from Malters in Lucerne, who accompanied some local motorcycle racers at races at home and abroad in the early 80s. On the always convivial evenings in the paddock, a black hat made the rounds, into which everyone threw a small amount for the racers, so that they could fill the tank, buy new tyres or spare parts. Soon, however, they thought about how they could support the local drivers even better and they decided to found an association.

Thus, on December 7, 1982, the «Speedy Gonzales Fanclub» was born. The following year, the first motorcycle exhibition was organized. Since then, the proceeds from the motorcycle exhibition Malters, which takes place every March, are invested year after year in the support of Swiss motor sportsmen.

Dominique Aegerter soon came to the attention of the board when the now 32-year-old from Berne and now two-time Supersport World Champion and overall winner of the 2022 MotoE™ World Cup first began his career in motocross and shortly afterwards switched to road racing in the German ADAC Junior Cup. The rest of the story is well known and Aegerter can still enjoy the enthusiastic following of the "Speedy Gonzales Fanclub".

"Domi's support is certainly something special for our club. He is not only our best-known member, but is virtually part of the family here. Domi shows an incredible passion and a great deal of heart and soul for motorsport. He conveys exactly this passion, which has motivated our members to dedicate themselves to racing for over 40 years. True to our motto: «S’ Geld mues döre Uspuff uus….»"
