2023/09/10 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2023: French Round / Sunday - Superpole Race & Race 2

Race accident prevents nice conclusion of the weekend in France

For Dominique Aegerter, a crash in the second main race at Magny-Cours by no his fault ended smoothly.

Sunday's race in France got off to a very promising start from 32-year-old Dominique Aegerter's point of view. With sixth place in the Superpole race, he managed the return to the top ten and thus make it onto the second row of the grid for the long-distance race in the afternoon. After a good start, the Yamaha rider was immediately able to place himself in the leading group. After three laps, however, the race came to an end for Aegerter. Fortunately, the WorldSBK rookie remained uninjured apart from bruises in the elbow area.

Aegerter's next attempt to continue the upward trend comes in two weeks' time at Spain's MotorLand Aragón circuit.

Grid position 12 / Superpole-Race: P6 / Grid position 6 / Race 2: NS at Restart

"The sprint race went very well; I finished sixth and in doing so equalling my best result so far in a Superpole Race. P6 was also very good for my starting position in Race 2 because I could start from the second row. I was sure I would have a good race and was fighting with the leading group, but after three laps I was hit from behind by another rider and crashed out. I was taken to the medical centre and could not compete at the restart. I have little pain in my elbow, but I want to thank my team who fixed my bike in a flash so I could have started again. Now I need some rest, but for sure we will take the positive experience from here to be strong in Aragon and try to show our potential again. A big thanks also goes to the fans they were incredible and motivated me a lot."
