2023/07/30 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2023: Czech Round / Sunday - Superpole-Race & Race 2

More points for heading into vacations

For Dominique Aegerter, round eight of the season nevertheless ended behind expectations, as he had to settle for eleventh place twice on Sunday.

Dominique Aegerter had to pull out all the stops on the last race day before the summer break today in Most, Czech Republic, to add four hard-earned points to his tally in the end. First, the 32-year-old Swiss finished Superpole Race in dry conditions in eleventh place, just outside the points scoring positions. Then in the second main race of the weekend, in equally good conditions, the Yamaha rider set out to make up the deficit. Coming from the fourth row, he managed a good start, but soon he had to realize that he could not keep up the pace of the group in front of him and again did not go beyond eleventh place.

Most was the last stop in the championship, which now enters a summer break lasting just under six weeks. Aegerter is currently ninth in the overall standings.

Grid position 10 / Superpole-Race: P11 / Grid position 12 / Race 2: P11

"It was a bit of a hectic Sunday today with the sprint race and the second main race. From tenth on the grid, I would have expected a bit more than eleventh place this morning. But it was not so easy to finish further ahead. In the second race I got away very well from twelfth on the grid and was able to work my way into the top 10 right away. But like yesterday, I lacked a bit of pace to fight with the guys in front of me. In races like this, I am still learning a lot about how to use the full potential of the bike. Especially when it comes to the electronics, because there are many options, and you often have to change the mapping."

"Besides, my arm is still giving me more problems than I would like. The condition is still far from 100 percent because I am still suffering a bit with problems coming from arm pumb. Hopefully we can fix that during the summer break. Still, I want to thank the whole team, Yamaha and all the people who support me in World Superbike Championship for everything they do for me. At the end of the first part of the season, I would have expected a bit more. But we can also look back on very good race weekends and hopefully after the break we can start again where we should be. Until then, I wish everyone a nice and relaxing vacation. But I will not be able to do it without any bikes. In Switzerland, you will definitely see me with a motorcycle the one or other time."
