2022/04/06 - FIM Supersport World Championship 2022: Team launch

Dominique Aegerter: «Gold gives me wings»

During an online team launch on Wednesday, Dominique Aegerter and his Dutch racing team Ten Kate Racing Yamaha have presented the colours for the upcoming season.

Whilst 31-year-old Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter remains true to his starting number «77», golden elements are the most striking change to the current Supersport champion's new design. These replace his preferred bright yellow.

Aegerter, a ten-time race winner last year, will be the man to be beaten in 2022 when the FIM Supersport World Championship gets underway at Spain's MotorLand Aragón circuit this weekend. The calendar includes twelve events, each with two races per weekend.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha, Yamaha YZF R6):

"It is a great honour for me that Ten Kate continues to believe in my abilities and that we are now embarking our second season together. When I joined them a year ago, I immediately felt very comfortable in this environment. In 2021 we had a super successful season. We achieved something incredible by winning the World Championship. I think this title with the Yamaha YZF R6 was also something very special for them, even though they had already won ten world championships before. But now we are about to start the new championship. I am very excited to continue working with Ten Kate and we have set very clear goals, even if there are some unknown factors because of the new technical rules."

"Mainly, we want to fight at the very front again in every race in order to successfully defend the title at the end and then, if possible, move up to Superbike World Championship together. Even though I am entitled to the number «1», I will not do without my «77». It is my trademark, and this number has brought me a lot of luck during my career. I will do my best so that we will always see «77» at the top. The new outfit with gold elements in the leather suit is very special for me because this colour inspires me. After a good preparation we are now ready to go. The team has done its homework very carefully during the winter months, while I feel in top shape physically."
