2019/11/13 - MotoE™ World Cup 2020 with Dynavolt Intact GP

Dominique Aegerter to race in MotoE™ World Cup

The 29-year-old Rohrbacher signed an agreement with the German Dynavolt Intact GP team for the recently created racing series with electric motorcycles.

After a long period of uncertainty as to how his career will continue, Dominique Aegerter can now take a deep breath through. The ambitious athlete, however, will have to temporarily retire from the Moto2 class after ten years and will face a completely new challenge for him in 2020. The provisional MotoE World Cup racing calendar includes five events with a total of six races. The agreement allows Aegerter to pursue further racing activities in other series. In this respect, negotiations with various teams are in progress.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER:

"I'm super happy that I could finally settle my future. The long negotiations with my current team were very nerve-racking. But saying goodbye to Moto2 will certainly not be easy for me. On the other hand, I'm really looking forward to the new challenge with the Intact team in the MotoE World Cup. It was the best option for me. The team is one of the best in the paddock and they have already gained experience with the MotoE bike this year. However, there have been contacts and discussions about a possible cooperation with them in the past. But now it has finally worked out. I am very happy about that. Since I've never ridden an electric bike before, I'm very excited about what to expect in MotoE. But I've heard a lot of positive things. The acceleration should be breath-taking, and the tyres have an incredibly high grip level. So, I can well imagine that this package should fit my riding very well. I'm also approaching this challenge with the attitude of rocking the MotoE from the very first beginning and to be a consistent front runner."

"By signing this agreement with Dynavolt Intact GP though, I could have more Moto2 World Championship appearances either because I’m first replacement if one of the two regular riders, Tom Lüthi or Marcel Schrötter, shouldn’t be able to race for the team. Of course, I don't wish that for either of them or I don't want to think that far. I’ll use the winter months to prepare myself for my new main task in the MotoE World Cup. I’m very grateful to the team principals at Intact GP for choosing me. With their offer they made my decision a lot easier. I can now fully concentrate on racing again, having been more of an entrepreneur than a professional aboard a racing bike for the past two years. Many thanks again to everyone who involved to succeed in this agreement, as well as to all the sponsors and fans who have always been loyal to me."
