#ThaiGP: DOMINIQUE AEGERTER STARTS WORK TO GET GRIPS WITH THE NEW THAILAND TRACK

#DA77 STARTS WORK TO GET GRIPS WITH THE NEW THAILAND TRACK

On day one of practice at the Chang International Circuit, Dominique Aegerter’s task was mainly to gain experience for the new Buriram track.

The only known factor before the weekend got started at Moto2™ premiere in the southeaster Asian country were the climatic conditions. The weather in Thailand is similar to that in Malaysia, but perhaps even a bit more humid. For Dominique Aegerter, the first outings at the unknown track so far was not easy. Despite missing comparisons and possible data exchange with a team mate, the 28-year-old from Switzerland, who celebrated birthday last Sunday, managed a significant improvement in terms of lap time. He finished day one with just less than a second in P18 in the combined free practice times.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), FP1: P21 - 1´38.547 (17/23) / FP2: P18 - 1´37.802 (9/19):

"In my opinion, it’s really cool that we have a Grand Prix in Thailand now and that we can race at this nice circuit. I really like the track because its layout is very varied with some hard-braking points and lots of quick direction changes. But the conditions are brutally hot though, that was clear from the beginning. About day one we have to say that we started quite well into the weekend even if the results may not look that nice but we’re not losing too much to the front. The times are very tight as usual again. But most of the time I did my laps alone and therefore it is much more difficult to make lots of progress on a new track without any data or other clues form FP1 to FP2. In addition, we had to try both tyre options today. But first, with no data to compare, it is not an easy task to move forward quickly. In such a case, as this weekend, a team mate next to me in the garage would be enormously helpful."
