#DA77: STEADY PROGRESS ON FIRST EVENING AT THE DESERT TRACK

STEADY PROGRESS ON FIRST EVENING AT THE DESERT TRACK

Dominique Aegerter were able to put in a respectable display during both Friday’s free sessions for this weekend’s opening round in Qatar.

After streaky pre-season testing, Dominique Aegerter and his German team Kiefer Racing commenced the Grand Prix of Qatar with an increasing level of high performance. In good conditions thanks to stable weather, Aegerter pushed himself into the spotlights aboard the still KTM Moto2 machine for him. At the end of day, the 27-year old rider from Swiss´ Bern region, however, was not able to keep a great P11 after FP1 earlier this afternoon.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing, KTM), FP1: P11 - 2´02.384 (17/18) / FP2: P20 - 2´01.989 (18/18):

"Normally, it always takes a while until I get adapted to this fast and flowing track here. Today, however, we were there right from the beginning because the feeling was immediately slightly better than during our recent tests. In the evening, during FP2, we were working a lot with used tyres. Since the conditions are completely different at this time, we were seeking for an eligible option for the race. With a difference up to 20 degrees in terms of track temperatures, it was a bit harder for me that the times are came. Nevertheless, our gap to the top with one second is still very low though the position is again less nice. But overall, we were again able to make little progress today which of course is the most important fact of today. There is still room for improvements, so we will sit down together and try to make the next step for tomorrow. I also have to say that I’m a bit annoyed about reckless behaviour of some other riders. Obviously, some of them may not have understood yesterday’s briefing correctly or even completely. During the second session, I was blocked in fast laps by another rider who was cruising on the best line."
