2022/05/15 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup 2022: Grand Prix de France / Sunday - Race 2

First win of the season tops successful Le Mans weekend

In Sunday's fourth e-bike race in 2022, Dominique Aegerter celebrated his first MotoE victory of the year in hot France.

Unlike in Saturday's race, Dominique Aegerter played a role for today's victory right from the start in the second race of the weekend in front of a huge crowd. Although Italian Mattia Casadei was able to hold the lead until the last lap after another lightning start, he had no chance against the 31-year-old Swiss rider in the end when Aegerter launched the race-deciding attack. By winning, Aegerter also took the lead in the Cup standings.

The MotoE™ World Cup continues in two weeks at the Italian circuit of Mugello with its debut race in the beautiful Tuscany hills.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica)
Grid position: 2nd / Race 2: Winner

"I am over the moon with my first MotoE win this year. It was a great race. But before that, my crew did a fantastic job by fine-tuning my bike just that little bit better. After I had slight difficulties finding my speed at the beginning yesterday, I was able to stay with the leading group from the start today. Casadei, who again made a super start from pole position, was always within my reach. I knew that my pace was better than him and although I went to the limit on every lap, I only was able to pass him a few corners before the finish line. It was an indescribably nice feeling to exit the last corner in first position and see the chequered flag as the winner. This victory is immensely important for the championship because with today’s 25 points we have taken the red plate for the overall lead."

"My start to the season with race wins in Supersport World Championship and now also in MotoE could not have been better. In total, I already have been on the podium seven times this year. With eight races so far, that is certainly a record to be a bit proud of. Next weekend it is time for Supersport again at Estoril and then the next event in MotoE at Mugello a week later. The last time I was at Mugello was two years ago so, I cannot wait to race there again, and I am very sure it will be a great track for MotoE as well. This morning, the outlook was not so nice in terms of the weather, but luckily it stayed nice all day. So, we raced in perfect conditions, even if it was very hot in the afternoon. Again, many fans stayed on their seats at the grandstands after MotoGP race and cheered us on. Merci beau coup, I am looking forward to coming back to Le Mans next year!"
