2017/10/16 - Misano win revoked

#MisanoGP: VICTORY REVOKED

MISANO WIN REVOKED

After Sunday’s race in soaked Motegi, the 27-year-old Swiss Moto2™ rider heard about this devastating news.

In a technical control at the Misano Grand Prix, an oil sample was taken from the motorcycle of race winner Dominique Aegerter. In the analysis of this oil sample, irregularities were found and later confirmed with the B sample. According to technical regulations, this means the disqualification in the Misano race. As a result, the victory of Dominique Aegerter and Kiefer Racing at this Grand Prix has been revoked.

For Aegerter and his team Kiefer Racing, however, this irregularity remains an inexplicable mystery because they have used evidently engine oil according to the FIM Moto2™ specifications and declares categorically that no additives whatsoever have been used during the weekend in Italy and also during the whole season.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing, Suter MMX2):

"Obviously, it was a big disappointment for me when I heard this news on Sunday after the race. But I fully support my team and I believe them that during the Misano weekend no other oil was used and nothing was added. For me, therefore, it is incomprehensible how such a sample can bring a positive result. In any case, I will not accept this result without further ado, but I will inform myself and stay tuned in this matter. Apart from the disappointment and depressed mood in the entire team now, it also means a big setback for the entire project. I hope, therefore, to cancel this decision and that we get back this Grand Prix victory for Kiefer Racing and Suter Racing. I firmly believe in it. Beyond that, in my opinion no oil additives may bring one to a maximum of two horsepower. But in a wet race, as it was in Misano, also up to ten horsepower more would not make a difference. In this case, the rider makes the difference. So, in Misano just I was aboard my bike and I delivered a great performance on this day."
